Children ages 3-10 are invited to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word starting on September 10 during the 10 am Mass. They are dismissed at the beginning of the liturgy of the Word as they process with Candle, Scripture Lectionary and the person who will preside at their worship. They gather in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel to pray and worship as the Word of God is proclaimed from the Children’s Lectionary.
A reflection on the Gospel is given at their level of understanding, followed by the Creed and prayers of the faithful (during which pets and grandparents receive much attention!).
For the children this will be a time of worship and prayer. Those adults chosen as leader of Children’s Liturgy of the Word vest in an alb as sign that they are presiding (a leader of prayer) at this portion of the liturgy. Parents and/or older siblings are invited to accompany the children if desired. The children will return to the assembly, entering with the procession of the Gifts for the Eucharist.
